During the off season, Chad Wienen and John Natalie of Team Motoworks / Can-Am worked hard preparing for the 2011 AMA ATVMX Championship, presented by DWT. The preparation paid off as the teammates raced the Can-Am DS 450 to first and second overall respectively. Wienen dominated the field going 1-1 and winning the first moto by 12 seconds and the second moto by six seconds. He also had the fastest Pro-class lap of the weekend.
“This is a continuation of the success we had last season when we won three out of the last four races,” said Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “Our Can-Am DS 450 racers are hungry for national championships and so are the support teams; we cannot wait for the next round of racing.”
Pro-class rookie, and Can-Am X-Team racer, Chase Snapp looked comfortable in his first Pro race at the nationals. He finished eighth overall and will look to improve on his performance for the next round. Several Can-Am DS 450 racers saw success in the amateur ranks including Andy Magyan who won the weekend overall in the 4-Stroke B class and Merrill Crose who finished second overall in the Junior 25-Plus and Vet 30-Plus classes.
Out west in Nevada, round 2 of the World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS) took place where Motoworks / Can-Am teammates Josh Frederick and Jeremie Warnia went second and third in the Pro class aboard their DS 450 ATVs. With his third-place finish, Warnia maintains his points lead in the class.
